A record number of Americans will be traveling on July 4th weekend
Planning a July 4thgetaway this weekend? You’re certainly not alone. Experts say a record of nearly 49 million Americans will be traveling for the long holiday weekend, up 4.1 percent from 47 million travelers on the same weekend in 2018, and where we’re headed isn’t too surprising.
Between Wednesday, July 3 and Sunday, July 7, 2019, according to Forbes, Americans will be traveling more than 50 miles away from home either by plane, train, boat or car, but car is the most popular mode of transportation with an average of 41.4 million Americans on the road. So yeah, leave yourself some extra time for traffic!
And most travelers are going to a sunny locale. Orlando, Florida, home to Disney World, is the most popular Independence Day vacation destination, followed by Honolulu, Hawaii, Seattle, Washington, Las Vegas, Nevada, Anaheim, California, New York, New York, Boston, Massachusetts, Maui, Hawaii, Anchorage, Alaska and Chicago, Illinois, in that order.
