These celebrities are now wearing untucked shirts with suits
We here at Garmany have been telling you for a while now that dress codes are changing and formal suits no longer need to be so formal, and we certainly hold to that. But the new celebrity-approved trend of wearing untucked shirts with suits…well, we’re not so sure how we feel about it.
Two stylish A-listers have been sporting the look recently—LeBron James went untucked at the Staples Center before a Lakers game and Jake Gyllenhaal owned the look at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. No, they didn’t go untucked to a black-tie event or anything, but rather dressed down the classic suit attire and made the jacket and pants combo way more versatile.
But our style pros think that wearing an untucked shirt with a suit is a big no-no and usually just comes across as sloppy. But if you must untuck, doing so really depends on the shirt itself, not the occasion to which it’s worn. Shirts with flat-bottom hems are meant to be worn untucked, but a shirt with tails should always be tucked into pants.
If you need to stock up on shirts or suits, stop by Garmany and have one of our sales associates help you find the perfect items. We’ve got fine-crafted suits from Isaia, Kiton, Brunello Cucinelli and more, and button-up shirts from Peter Millar, Eton and many more of your favorite luxury brands.
